Since the beginning of (data) time, business analysts have grabbed extracts of data—often from multiple locations—and downloaded them to Excel, a desktop database, or a SAS application on a local server to explore, standardize, transform, model, and score records. In the era of big data, this approach is like collecting water with a sieve—it leaves you thirsty for more. This session will explore techniques for running analytics inside databases and across massively parallel processing environments. It will explore MapReduce, Hadoop, and in-database analytics options from various vendors.
