Kelley Blue Book, a privately-held new and used vehicle information company, is transforming itself into a data-driven analytics company with data as its key competitive asset. To meet market demand and maintain its competitive edge, the company creates analytical models against large volumes of internal and external data to drive nearly every facet of its business. To achieve greater efficiencies and maintain a strong advantage in the market, the company has embraced new analytical technologies and techniques. It has moved its data to new platforms, embedded analytical functions inside its database and established new models that efficiently deliver the most current vehicle forecasts possible. The company has also reorganized the majority of its development projects to bridge the divide between analysts and data management teams. This session will examine best practices and pitfalls in delivering big data analytics.
