Big data is often streaming data: time-series, event-oriented data emitted at sub-second rates by hundreds or thousands of network-based devices. This data often requires complex correlation and interpretation and immediate action performed by a human or application. Streaming data is often used in financial services, energy, agriculture, telematics, logistics, and manufacturing environments and is becoming increasingly common for data warehousing professionals working on ‘big data’ problems. This session will profile a large government agency that is monitoring traffic across its nationwide network to detect internal and external security threats and manage network capacity. By monitoring event streams, the agency can trace compliance events and pathways at a granular level.
Business and IT Executives can qualify to attend the TDWI Solution Summit with a full participation package, including hotel, meals, and all event programs.
