W5 Kimball Data Warehouse Lifecycle Overview

This course covers the Kimball Lifecycle approach, including practical tips and techniques for creating a successful data warehouse and business intelligence system. It distills the essential elements of the Kimball approach described in the best-selling book The Data Warehouse Lifecycle Toolkit, Second Edition (Kimball, Ross, Thornthwaite, Mundy, and Becker).This course also provides an overview of the Kimball Lifecycle, beginning with the requirements gathering process as the foundation for success. It covers the basic concepts of dimensional modeling and demystifies BI/DW architecture, focusing on the fundamentals: what goes into the architecture and how do we create an architecture that will satisfy the business requirements? We then explore the data staging process, focusing on the extract, transform, and load process in the context of building a dimensional data warehouse.
