S4 Performance Dashboards: Measuring, Monitoring, and Managing Your Business

May 9th, 2010

9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Prerequisite: None

Performance dashboards are the new face of business intelligence, providing a layered interface that conforms to the way users work—instead of forcing users to conform to the way BI tools work. Performance dashboards visualize key metrics that drive the organization and embody its goals and strategy. Users can ascertain the status of critical processes with a quick glance, and if desired, move through successive layers of information in a guided and systematic manner to determine root causes and take action.

This course will demonstrate how performance dashboards blend the once distinct disciplines of BI and performance management into a powerful agent of organizational change. You will learn how to set up and manage a dashboard project; design and architect performance dashboards; select and create key performance indicators, targets, and thresholds; design screen interfaces; and evaluate dashboard products.

You Will Learn

  • The difference between operational, tactical, and strategic dashboards
  • The MAD framework for designing dashboards
  • The pros and cons of different performance dashboard architectures
  • How to design effective dashboard screens
  • Criteria for selecting dashboard products

Geared To

  • Business sponsors and managers; BI directors; project managers and tool managers; developers
